Greenhouse supplies FAQs
Can I fit a greenhouse in my yard?
Greenhouses come in all shapes and sizes: they can be as small as 1'
x 1' or as large as a garage. If you are considering a small, less time-consuming
investment peruse greenhouse kits, small greenhouses, and greenhouse
sheds. These can be purchased online or in person at a nursery. Portable
greenhouses can be put up as close to your house as you like. This allows
you to have easy access to electricity and water when you want to tend
the plants inside.
What is a portable greenhouse?
A portable greenhouse can be set up and taken down by the consumer
at will. The cover is usually made of plastic so it can be rolled up
and placed away in storage. It has a few shelves that can be assembled
in less than an hour. A portable greenhouse can also be moved from one
side of the property to another to take best advantage of the available
sunlight as it moves from season to season.
Should I buy a glass or plastic greenhouse?
Many people purchase a glass greenhouse for the aesthetics. If you
have the budget and can have someone install it for you this may be
the way to go. It is more difficult to set up because the panes of glass
can break, so those installing the greenhouse themselves may choose
to go with plastic. Polycarbonate plastic also diffuses the light better
than plain glass which is better for some plants. Plastic has its downside
however: the sun can yellow the surface, and multi-walled plastic is
not hermetically sealed against moisture and dirt.
